We are so excited to bring you some NEW food news!
Brand new restaurants are coming soon to a Disney park, so you know we jumped at the chance to give it a try! Tokyo DisneySea will soon be opening Fantasy Springs, a new sea port that will include three new lands. The new port will open on June 6th this year, but Disney invited us to experience it all BEFORE it opened. Of course, we couldn’t turn down the opportunity to try the new restaurant coming to Frozen Kingdom — the Royal Banquet of Arendelle!
Royal Banquet of Arendelle is a quick-service restaurant INSIDE Anna and Elsa’s castle! We couldn’t believe we had stepped inside the actual castle of Arendelle and got to eat a royal banquet.
Atmosphere
The restaurant features indoor and outdoor seating. Inside there are multiple rooms. The banquet hall is large and beautiful! (The whole restaurant seats 570 people!!)
There’s a throne at the end of the room.
Another dining room is very cozy and decorated with family heirlooms.
Check out the stone fireplace!
There are family heirlooms everywhere.
There’s quite a collection of books here.
As well as other mementos, like this ship.
And so many portraits!
Hey, Olaf!
There’s Kristoff and Sven…
…and many paintings of Anna and Elsa throughout their lives.
Including as children with their parents.
You could spend quite a bit of time in here just looking at all the details, but we’re hungry, so let’s get to the food!
Menu
One thing we’ve noticed about menus at Tokyo Disney is that they are often pretty limited! The restaurants tend to do one or two things, rather than offer tons of variety. The main attraction here is Arendelle’s Royal Set which is served in a basket and includes a pot pie, smoked salmon, trout and orange salad, potato gratin, bread, and Olaf’s marshmallow chocolate mousse. There are two pot pie choices — beef, or lobster and redfish.
The Royal Set comes with a soft drink, with choices including coffee, tea, iced coffee, iced tea, Coca-Cola, orange drink, or an Apple Tea Soda. For kids, there’s a separate version of the Royal Set that includes meatball stew, broccoli, cherry tomato, potato salad, a smoked salmon, trout, and orange salad, fruit jellied dessert, rice bread, and apple juice.
Food
Of course, we had to try Arendelle’s Royal Set with the beef pot pie!
We dug into the flaky crust to find beef in a rich gravy. We found the beef to be very tender, with soft vegetables inside as well, but overall we’d call the pie a middle-of-the-road option. Not bad by any means, but not great either in our estimation.
The potato gratin comes in its own little crock. We enjoyed this side, as it combined three soft baby potatoes cooked to perfection, covered in a creamy sauce and crunchy layer on top, making it a great savory side option. As a side we definitely preferred the gratin over the salad, as the flavor of the smoked salmon was a strange combo the orange, creating an odd clash of flavors between the saltiness of the salmon and acidity of the orange.
And this marshmallow chocolate dessert is just adorable to look at. The mochi had a delicious lemony flavor that played well against the flavor of the mousse.
We’ve been enjoying everything Fantasy Springs has to offer this week, and we’ll be bringing you even more details! So stay tuned to DFB!
