Disney parks across the globe are changing!
Tokyo Disneyland recently announced an iconic ride will be closing and rethemed into an entirely new attraction. Buzz Lightyear’s Astro Blasters is out, and a NEW Wreck-It Ralph-themed attraction is in. Buckle up, because we’re sharing everything we know about Tokyo Disneyland’s new Wreck-It Ralph ride!
Buzz Lightyear’s Astro Blasters – has been open at Tokyo Disneyland since 2004. However, after a 20-year run, the attraction is going to close permanently in October 2024 to make way for a new ride based on a different Disney property!
A new attraction based on the Disney film Wreck-It-Ralph will be opening in the former Buzz space in 2026 “or later.”
Disney has shared that the new attraction will be “an indoor interactive gameplay experience, perfect for children and adults,” and follows Ralph on “an action-packed journey as he sets out to prove to everyone that he is a true hero with a big heart.” Along the way, Ralph meets up with friends like Vanellope von Schweetz and more.
Once you’re on the ride, you’ll “enter the candy-themed racing game Sugar Rush, which is being attacked by Sugar Bugs – glitches created by King Candy. Guests team up with the beloved film characters Ralph and Vanellope to transform the Sugar Bugs back to their original ‘kawaii’ confectionery such as cookies and cakes.”
In addition, the current merchandise shop adjacent to the ride, Planet M, will be undergoing theme changes and improvements. To prepare for this new ride, Buzz Lightyear’s Astro Blasters will be closing in October 2024.
So, while we don’t have a ton of details just yet — we’re looking forward to finally having a Wreck-It Ralph ride, even if it’s all the way at Tokyo Disneyland!
