Disney World uses paint in some really unique ways!
From varying the color of sidewalks and curbs so that people don’t trip walking down Main Street, U.S.A. to painting utility boxes and light posts in “go away green” so that they’re less noticeable, Disney has been known to use colors to subtly affect your in-park experience. But we don’t have to be that subtle in our homes! And if you want to paint your home just like Disney World, we’ve got great news.
Did you know that Disney World has a partnership with PPG Paints? Their alliance was announced back in 2022 and made PPG the official paint of both Disney World and Disneyland Resort. Thanks to this partnership, you can use the EXACT paints in your home that they use in the Disney parks!
For example, the PPG Pure Performance paint is used indoors at both Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind and Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway. PPG Acri-Shield Max is an outdoor paint that’s used for surfaces on Main Street, U.S.A., and Matthews Paint is used around the parks for exterior surfaces of buildings. If it can last through the Florida weather (and especially hurricane season!), then it might be a good choice for your home as well!
And if you see something in Disney World that you really want to color match, PPG has a color-matching tool for paints on their website! You’ll need to upload a photo of the color you want replicated. You can also use the tool to create a color palette with the various shades in your photo — check out this one we did with Cinderella Castle!
Now we’ve just got to convince our families to let us completely paint the house in shades of Disney World. Do you think anyone would notice if our bedroom was done in Spaceship Earth gray?
Either way, we’re definitely keeping the color match website bookmarked on our phones for the next Disney World trip! How else are we supposed to get all the interior design inspo we need?!
