NEWS: State of Emergency Issued for Southern California, Including Disneyland

Planning for a Disney trip is complicated enough — but throw unexpected weather into the mix and things can go downhill pretty quickly.

And, while Disney World hunkers down for a “super soaker” storm, over in California, Disneyland is currently under a state of emergency due to a second “atmospheric river.” Here’s what we know.

A significant portion of Southern California is battling a serious weather event, prompting Governor Gavin Newsom to declare a state of emergency for eight counties, including Orange County where Disneyland Resort is located. (CNN)

Flood watches were put into effect on February 3rd and will last through February 6th in central and southern California. Mandatory evacuations have been issued for Santa Barbara, San José, Los Angeles, and Ventura Counties.

Rainy day

This is the second atmospheric river to hit Southern California in less than a week. The National Weather Service also warned that “all systems are go for one of the most dramatic weather days in recent memory.”

Experts predict the storm will stall in the greater Los Angeles area Monday night, bringing up to 8 inches of rain to the coast and up to 14 inches in the mountains, the LA Times reports.
