When planning your Disney World vacation, it’s so important that you plan for all sorts of weather.
While most of the year is pretty warm (okay, scorching) and sunny at Disney World, you can almost always plan on running into rain at some point throughout your vacation. That’s just Central Florida for ya! Due to the parks’ proximity to the ocean, weather systems pass through the area pretty frequently. There’s one coming through this weekend, so here’s what you need to know to be prepared.
According to Fox35 Orlando, there’s a “southern soaker” headed straight for Orlando this weekend (February 3rd and 4th), and Disney World will very likely be impacted.
Meteorologists said that a “southern soaker” low-pressure system will “barrel through the region this weekend, bringing 1″-2″ of rain on Sunday. This will have an impact on any outdoor activities.” They also said that as of right now, the threat is still very low, as the temperature and moisture look too low on Sunday to pose a storm threat. However, expect LOTS of rain.
There are areas throughout the parks that are prone to flooding, so we wouldn’t whip out your nicest sneakers on Sunday. Wearing some water-resistant, open-toed shoes is probably your best bet. Make sure to go ahead and be prepared with all of your rain gear, too!
Unless the rain is just tremendously strong or lightning is in the area, outdoor rides will still be open. Of course, indoor rides should be open as well. There’s probably no reason to call it quits on your park day, unless you feel unsafe driving in the rain. Don’t do anything you feel uncomfortable with.
We’re here to keep you updated on all things Disney news, as well as provide you with the best advice so that you can be as relaxed and safe as possible. Make sure to follow along so that you never miss a thing.
