The Walt Disney Animation Studio is constantly innovating and creating new and exciting movies and shows! With the introduction of Disney+, we frequently see new additions to the Disney catalog that appeal to many different audiences.

Disney is releasing an exclusive new show to Disney+ entitled Iwájú, an original animated series that is set in a futuristic Lagos, Nigeria.

The coming-of-age series follows Tola, a young girl from a wealthy part of the Island, and her self-taught tech expert best friend Kole. It centers around their adventures as they discover the secrets and dangers that are hidden in their different worlds.

The series is a collaboration with the entertainment company Kugali, as their filmmakers — including director Olufikayo Ziki Adeola, production designer Hamid Ibrahim, and cultural consultant Toluwalakin Olowofoyeku — take viewers on a beautiful journey into the world of Iwájú!

The series is produced by Disney Animation’s Christina Chen with a screenplay by Adeola and Halima Hudson and features the voices of Dayo Okeniyi, Femi Branch, Siji Soetan, and more!
