Pin trading is SERIOUS business in Disney World, and if you’re a pin trader or collector, you’re probably fully aware of that.
For those who are new to pin trading, though, it might seem a little daunting at first. But basically it’s a great way to interact with Disney World Cast Members and other Disney World visitors, as well as nab something that will eventually become part of a VERY cool collection. But where do you even start? Well, we’re going to tell you the two BEST locations for pin trading.
First, a little background. Pin trading is a free activity you can participate in Disney World, although you do have to buy some pins to get started (and they need to be Disney-licensed pins). It’s literally what it sounds like: Yu can trade the pins you already have for pins other Disney World Cast Members and visitors have — you’ll know the pin traders by the lanyards they wear (although Cast Members often carry pin boards, too).
So where do you even START? Well we’ve got two locations where you’ll not only find great pins, but also other collectors to trade with.
Disney’s Pin Traders
Disney’s Pin Traders in Disney Springs is a no-brainer for pin trading (it’s literally in the name). First, there is a HUGE selection of pins you can buy here, but you can also get starter sets, lanyards, and other pin trading accessories. You’ll also find other collectors hanging around here because they know they’ll find other people here who are really into pins.
So head to Disney’s Pin Traders to get started and to get to trading. Pro tip: Buy the mystery pin sets and just give away the pins you don’t want — more than likely, someone else will want those pins.
Disney Announces New Pin Trading Rule
Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge
You might not think a hotel would be a good spot for pin trading, but there are a few folks who go to Animal Kingdom Lodge with HUGE collections looking to trade. Who knew? We’ve seen one particular gentleman trading pins there often and we’ve been told by Cast Members that he’s like a Pin Trading celebrity. If he pin trades at Animal Kingdom Lodge, then that’s where we want to pin trade, too!
However, you could very well meet other pin traders in your own hotel lobby — again, you’ll know them by their lanyards, pin bags, and other accessories. Don’t be shy — go up and ask if they’re interested in trading. Pin trading is a great way to make new friends, after all.
The Unspoken Rules of Pin Trading in Disney World
So whether you’re a pin trading pro or a beginner, we hope that this gives you a good idea of where to go to get your collection started. Happy trading!
