One of the best things you can do in Disney World is meet your favorite characters.
We will never NOT take the opportunity to hug Mickey or have breakfast with Minnie and her friends. We LOVE meeting newer characters, too, in the parks, like Moana and Asha! But if you’re planning on meeting some characters in Disney World, we’ve got to warn you about a problem you may come across.
One of the things you need to be aware of when you meet characters in Disney World is when the characters STOP meeting. Why? Well, timing is everything, especially for more popular character meet-and-greet locations (for example, Mickey at Town Square Theater in Magic Kingdom).
That means if you wait to get in line closer to when that meet and greet closes, you may not actually be able to get in line. Cast Members will often close lines early if they’re looking long and it looks like they could go over closing time (remember, those characters have been there for a while!). Just because a character is meeting people outside, for example, does NOT mean they will continue to meet new guests that aren’t yet in line.
So we recommend if there’s a character you really want to meet, prioritize that meet and greet for earlier in your day or as close to the start time as possible. Even better, some character meetings are on Genie+, and if they tend to have long lines, you might want to just use Genie+ to access that meet and greet’s Lightning Lane. You can also keep an eye on the My Disney Experience app so you know when those character meets start and end each day.
If you want guaranteed face time with characters, though, your best bet might be to book a character dining experience; you can book breakfast, lunch, and dinner with princesses, the Fab Five, Chip ‘n’ Dale, and more.
