From popular rides to fan-favorite shows, there are several closures happening at both Disneyland and Disney California Adventure. Never fear — we’ve got a full list of everything that’ll be closed in the parks in 2024 so that you can find all the information you’ll need for your upcoming trip.

Great Moments with Mr. Lincoln — Current Closure

Great Moments with Mr. Lincoln closed on April 16th. 

A reopening date for the Mr. Lincoln show is not yet known; however, there is something VERY interesting to know about the Main Street Opera House, which houses the attraction. President Lincoln was the first ever audio-animatronic made by Walt Disney, and now Disney has announced that the first-ever audio-animatronic of Walt Disney himself will be coming to Disneyland in a brand-new show. 

The new show, “Walt Disney — A Magical Life” will share a space inside the Main Street Opera House (after an initial solo run) with “Great Moments with Mr. Lincoln.” “Walt Disney — A Magical Life” will open on May 16th, 2025! Ultimately, Great Moments with Mr. Lincoln will also return to the Opera House and will be shown in rotation with “Walt Disney — A Magical Life.”

Tale of the Lion King — Permanently Closed January 8th, 2024

“Tale of the Lion King” ended its run at Disneyland’s Fantasyland Theater.

The final performance was held on January 7th, 2024.

Disney California Adventure

Doctor Strange: Mysteries of the Mystic Arts — CLOSED

Avengers Campus at Disney California Adventure opened in 2021 and the Doctor Strange: Mysteries of the Mystic Arts show has been part of the land since Day 1.

However, Doctor Strange: Mysteries of the Mystic performed its final shows on June 30th, 2024 before closing for good.

Beast’s Library — Permanent Closure

Beast’s Library in the Sorcerer’s Workshop closed permanently on December 11th, 2023.

According to KTLA5 News, the space will be used for Disney’s Imagination Campus, which is a program that allows students a unique learning experience that focuses on creativity and problem-solving.

We’re glad that the space will be used for something special since a beloved experience must go.

Downtown Disney District

Marceline’s Confectionery — Current Closure, BUT…

Recently, Disney shared that they’re designing an “all-new, expanded and completely reimagined confection experience featuring your favorite treats and fun new tasty offerings” over at Marceline’s Confectionery!

That said, even though the store itself is closed, in the meantime, you can grab select goodies at the Marceline’s cart in front of the confectionery so you can still get all the caramel apples, churro toffee, and other handcrafted goodies your heart desires!

When the reimagined location opens over the winter, it will do so as Disney’s Wonderful World of Sweets!

Like Marceline’s Confectionery, the reimagined shop will serve beloved treats like churro toffee, caramel apples, Mickey Krispy Treats, Marshmallow Wands, sour balls, lollipops, but you can also look forward to indulging in freshly made Werther’s Original Caramel popcorn! An exhibition kitchen will also give you the chance to see the tempting goodies being created.
