It’s officially the holiday season in Magic Kingdom!
Christmas decorations have gone up on Main Street, U.S.A., holiday drinks have arrived at Main Street Bakery, and tons of festive merchandise has dropped around the park. It might be tempting to rush over there to grab a Peppermint Mocha and take in all of the merry vibes but don’t forget there is a seriously impressive Christmas display going up right outside of the park. Construction on the giant gingerbread house at Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa began a few days ago, and they have already made a ton of progress. Come check it out!
A few days ago, Cast Members started assembling the gingerbread house, attaching cookie shingles with giant piping bags of icing.
Since then, they have made a lot of progress! There is electricity on inside and some of the first decor has started to go up. This year, the color palette is red and silver, with plenty of poinsettias and small silver wreath details.
For the past two years, the gingerbread house was adorned with blue decorations for Disney World’s 50th anniversary, but this year it is celebrating the Walt Disney Company’s 100th Anniversary! Around the house, you’ll notice images of some of Disney’s classic characters, like Mickey and Minnie…
…Ariel…
…and Princess Tiana.
We also noticed a classic Santa figure dressed in red, a deer and snowman on the front porch, and a few mini furniture pieces on the side entrance.
The process takes around three days, so it should be completed soon. We’ll keep an eye out for more updates, so stay tuned to DFB for more!
