Many people write off Disney World food.
Even we’re culprits of park hopping occasionally over to EPCOT for lunch instead of eating at one of the spots in Hollywood Studios. It may be known for its glitz and glam of Hollywood and dropping you into the action of the movies, but it still has some great food locations. We recently visited Fairfax Fare on Sunset Boulevard to try a new snack and this is what we thought!
Fairfax Fare is a quick-service restaurant along Sunset Boulevard on your way to the Twilight Zone Tower of Terror. This spot is known for its waffle bowls filled with delicious eats and toppings. On the day we stopped by, we got the new Bacon Macaroni & Cheese!
This specialty mac and cheese is a house-made Baked Macaroni & Cheese with Beer Cheese, Bacon, and topped with Bread Crumbs. And we have one word for it — DELICIOUS. We were floored by how good this mac and cheese was.
The beer cheese is so creamy, it reminded us of Gasparilla Island Grills’s mac and cheese which has always been one of our favorites. It wasn’t a powerful beer taste at all, instead, we would describe it as almost a bready taste. It was very rich and smooth, which made this dish soft — not crispy like baked mac and cheese.
However, the bacon and the breadcrumbs added a nice crispiness to this bowl. The breadcrumbs had a light herby flavor and the bacon was nice and salty, adding a great combination of flavors all around. We were pleasantly surprised by how crispy the breadcrumbs stayed while sitting in the creaminess of the cheese sauce. It was a nice touch.
If you are a fan of creamy, smooth, and rich mac and cheese, you’ll love this. If you don’t care for bacon or prefer crisp, baked mac and cheese, then you might want to try something else on the menu. At $10.49, it is a bit on the pricier side, but it was a pretty decent amount of food.
You can grab this in person or via mobile order over at Fairfax Fare in Hollywood Studios! We highly recommend it.
