We are proud Disney Adults, and that means we might notice things that other people don’t notice. One of those things was new trash cans!
EPCOT
While it doesn’t seem very exciting to some, these small additions make us feel like the parks are getting a refresh. We saw them in EPCOT, but good news — you’re going to see more.
These are solar trash cans where you can step down on the push-down bar, and the trash can will open without you having to touch anything, keeping you and the trash can cleaner throughout the day.

We heard from Disney that we can expect to see more of these trash cans! More units are coming to EPCOT in the coming weeks, and eventually, the other three parks, Disney Springs, water parks, ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex, and other locations throughout the year.

Now, a running joke for EPCOT festivals is that the tops of trash cans turn into tables since there are a lot of snacks to be had and not a lot of tables to sit at.

We noticed that these new trash cans are a little slanted, so you might not want to set your dishes on top of them. With the foot pedal, it seems like everything will stay a little bit more sanitary.

A big question we have is whether they’re going to be decorated for the EPCOT festivals. For some festivals like the EPCOT Flower & Garden Festival, they decorate them with Orange Bird, but only a select few, usually by Creations.
