Disney’s Haunted Mansion ride looks DIFFERENT right now — in fact, we’d dare say it’s a little SPOOKIER than usual!

Haunted Mansion Holiday is a popular ride overlay that’s been taking over the Disneyland attraction for several years during the Halloween and holiday seasons. This year, the overlay opened on September 1st, so come with us to check it out!

Characters from Tim Burton’s The Nightmare Before Christmas take over Haunted Mansion for the holiday season, adding their own special decor and additions to the ride. Haunted Mansion Holiday is now open in Disneyland, and Disney hasn’t yet announced how long it’ll stick around, though it usually lasts through the new year at least.

It’s a popular time to ride Haunted Mansion as many guests want to see the changes that Jack Skellington and his crew bring to the attraction, so you can expect ride wait times to go up this time of year.

We came first thing in the morning because we knew the line would get long later in the day. Although the listed ride wait time was 55 minutes when we stopped by, we actually only waited about 20 minutes before we were next in line to ride.

The exterior of the ride is decked out in “holiday” decor. At the entrance, you can find Jack, dressed as Santa Claus, perched on a large jack-o-lantern. A spooky wreath is eyeing the guests who dare enter! (Most of the exterior decorations are the same as in years past.)

The cemetery has some fun decorations, too, in the form of pinstriped ribbons.

The mansion is decked out in jack-o-lanterns, wreaths, candles, and garlands.

Inside the ballroom, you can see this year’s gingerbread house!

Each year, Disney changes the theme of this gingerbread house — this year, Von Ginger can be seen offering up some fruitcake from inside the mausoleum. That WHOLE THING is made of gingerbread!

The themed gingerbread house has been a tradition of Haunted Mansion Holiday for 22 years. The 2023 house is eleven feet tall and six feet wide. It took 50 pounds of gingerbread and 150 pounds of royal icing to bring it to life.
