Sometimes you can’t improve upon greatness, but sometimes you can make greatness even more…well, great.

Magic Kingdom
When it comes to Disney World snacks, we’re ALWAYS looking for ways to upgrade some of our favorites, which is why we once put a Chocolate Bundt Cake on top of a Chocolate Milkshake (for science!) and made an Ice Cream Sandwich out of a Mickey Cinnamon Roll (hey, don’t knock it until you try it). We LOVE a good snack hack and we’ve got a brand new one for you to try!
So we’re starting our snack hack over at Friar’s Nook in Magic Kingdom, where we recently tried — and LOVED — the Caramel Apple-Pecan Hand Pie. This snack is SO delicious on its own — who doesn’t love the taste of apple pie? This hand pie has a delicious Flaky Crust and is filled with Apples and Pecans and topped with Caramel Sauce.

The Friar’s Nook
Well, we went to pick up ANOTHER one for $5.99 because our reporter had the PERFECT snack hack idea.
Right next door to Friar’s Nook is Storybook Treats — which has ice cream. So we picked up a cup of Vanilla Soft-Serve for $5.29.
Do you see where we’re going with this? That’s right, we’re thinking of making that hand pie a la mode!
That’s EXACTLY what we did. We put that Vanilla Soft Serve on TOP of the Hand Pie and BOOM — NEW DFB Snack Hack!
So this is basically an apple pie a la mode and it is DELICIOUS. But we do have a few tips. First, you’ll need to do some planning to make this hack work. Get the hand pie first because the ice cream becomes soup (as you can see here) on a hot Florida day. We got the ice cream first, and then mobile ordered the hand pie afterward. Lesson learned.
Storybook Treats can get busy, so the best way to make this work is tag team it — send a friend to get the ice cream while you get the hand pie.
Anyway, we call this Caramel Apple-Pecan Hand Pie a la Mode!
So here’s the thing, though. This is a pretty expensive hack because the total comes to $11.28 for both items. But if you’re craving apple pie a la mode, this is the way to do it! We’ll share some more snack hacks with you as we come up with them, so stay tuned to DFB for more.
