A NEW Hotel Could Be Built Near Disney World

If you’re planning a trip to Disney World, there are plenty of places to stay nearby.

Disney World has its own host of more than a dozen hotels in different price ranges, but outside of Disney property, there are many other choices. Many hotel brands have properties in the area, and there’s a big market for vacation homes in Orlando. On top of that, there are more timeshares than you can count! And if you’re a timeshare person, it looks like a new property may be coming soon.

Orlando Sentinel reports that after owning the land since 2004, Wyndham Destinations is hoping to develop the 12-acre plot it owns near EPCOT Center Drive. The company wants to have a preliminary discussion with Orange County staff about adding 250 timeshare units and 350 hotel rooms on the property.

The land is currently dedicated for timeshares only, so it requires an entitlement change. “The company … is evaluating other possible business uses for the site, so we are going through that process with the county,” said Steven Goldsmith, a spokesperson with the company.

The preliminary application materials include conceptual site plans with a 350-room hotel next to a 250-unit timeshare tower. Both towers would be as tall as 200 feet and the plans also include space for a parking garage. The hotel would include a restaurant and lounge, a ballroom, and an event lawn. The property is just north of the JW Marriot and west of the Bonnet Creek Resort community.
