The Disney Treasure is set to make its debut on seas in July 2024, and today, its construction reached a new milestone.
The second of Disney’s newest class of cruise ships, the Treasure will be joining the Wish Class — following the Disney Wish, which first sailed in 2022. Disney shared that the Treasure just reached a milestone that’s considered to be very special in the world of cruising.
Imagineers and Cast Members celebrated the keel laying ceremony for the Disney Treasure at Meyer Werft Shipyard in Papenburg, Germany. This ceremony calls for the placement of a newly-minted coin under the keel of the ship — a maritime tradition that is thought to bring good fortune. The coin featured an etching of Captain Minnie Mouse “donning a new look that embodies the ship’s adventure motif.”
The Disney Treasure is only the second out of the three ships that will debut through 2025, completing the Wish Class.
While the Disney Wish is known as the “Castle on the Seas,” celebrating all things royal and magical, the Disney Treasure will capture Walt Disney’s imagination and sense of adventure.
The ship will feature 1,254 guest staterooms with theming inspired by “the mystery of a gilded palace” and draws inspiration from Asia, Africa, and even Aladdin’s Agrabah.
With the keel-laying ceremony, we know we’re one step closer to the completion of the Treasure. This ship will debut in July 2024, shortly after cruise dates begin for those traveling to Disney’s newest private island — Lighthouse Point.
