How often do you rely on Disney World transportation?

It certainly makes things convenient just to be able to hop on a bus, the Monorail, the Skyliner, or a boat to get to where you’re going, right? But what happens when one of those is down? Recently, TWO of those modes of transportation were down!
Okay, so we already told you about the Skyliner being closed resort-wide for refurbishment (luckily that handy transportation option has now reopened). But recently, another mode of transportation, the Monorail, was also closed — at least at EPCOT. When we arrived at EPCOT a few days ago, we saw signs alerting us to this closure.
The EPCOT Monorail is down
We spoke with a Cast Member who told us that the Monorail was expected to be closed at EPCOT ALL day, so if you were planning on using it to get around from there, you’d have to make alternate plans. We were told that guests traveling from EPCOT to Magic Kingdom would be able to get there via bus.

This closure also seems that it could be resort-wide. We also noticed that the Monorail was closed at the Ticket and Transportation Center at the same time to get to Magic Kingdom.

UPDATE: The Monorail has reopened in Disney World. We’ll update again if there are more closures, so stay tuned.
These things DO happen occasionally, so it’s important to have an alternate plan for transportation if you need it. If you don’t want to take a bus, you can always pay for a rideshare to get from EPCOT to Magic Kingdom. We’ll continue to keep an eye on the situation and let you know if and when the Monorail at EPCOT becomes available again. So stay tuned to DFB for more.
