Can you believe it? It’s time for another EPCOT festival already!
It feels like just yesterday that we were collecting our stamps on the Cookie Stroll during the 2022 EPCOT International Festival of the Holidays, and we are already up to our EARS in new sweets to try for the 2023 EPCOT Festival of the Arts. Well, we’ve got some fun cookie news for you guys today, and it has to do with BOTH of these festivals!
There are four festivals at EPCOT every year, and sometimes it’s hard to keep everything straight — was that drink we had from Food and Wine Festival, or Flower and Garden Festival? Well, it turns out we aren’t losing our minds when things start to look familiar — sometimes Disney recycles components from one festival snack to use toward the next! We were in Connections Cafe and Eatery the other day when we saw a cast member working on some cookies, and we had to know more!
We could see that the Cast Member was cutting squares out of the Spaceship Earth cookies, so we had to ask what she was doing.
It turns out, this is the dough from the Spaceship Earth cookies we saw at the Festival of the Holidays, and they are repurposing them for the Festival of the Arts!
As you can see, a new shape is cut from the original dough, and the scraps are saved and reshaped to be repurposed as well. The cast member informed us that the dough gets fully frozen after it’s made, so it stays fresh for the next festival.
We were told this new shape is going to be used in the Dulce Chocolate Mousse with Chocolate Cremeux and Dark Chocolate Truffle at the Deco Delights booth this year. We saw this treat at the festival last year, and it sure is pretty! Talk about a glow-up.
You can see the new square cookie on the bottom. How cool is this transformation? We love a good upcycle! We are in the parks all day today giving you all the details on the opening day of the festival, so stay tuned to DFB for more!
