From time to time, the unexpected happens in Disney World!
We’ve seen rides close due to lightning strikes or rogue wildlife, parade floats catch on fire, and our fair share of wild guest antics in the parks. And if you were standing in line for Rise of the Resistance this afternoon, you might have experienced something unprecedented.
We were walking through Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge earlier today when we noticed that Rise of the Resistance was completely blocked off by Cast Members, and the My Disney Experience app noted that the ride was temporarily closed.
We were eager to find out more and learned from nearby guests that an alarm had gone off inside the ride building. Some suspected that it was a fire alarm, but when we spoke to Cast Members, they were unsure what the alarm was for or why it had gone off. They were currently in the process of doing some research.
For the time being, all guests were evacuated from the queue. When we exited Galaxy’s Edge and walked by the nearby Guest Experience kiosk, there was quite a line of people waiting to speak to the Cast Members, likely because of the ride closure.
If something like this happens while you’re waiting in line, make sure to follow all Cast Member instructions and stay patient. You can watch the My Disney Experience app’s wait times section to see when the ride comes back up. Just be warned that shortly after the ride reopens, guests who previously held Lightning Lanes will likely rush to the attraction with their redemption passes, so the wait could skyrocket quickly.
We’ll keep you updated with any more ride closures or any details about this issue in Hollywood Studios today. Stay tuned to DFB for the latest Disney Wrold news and all the tips for the best ways to have an amazing theme park vacation!
