It’s no secret that we absolutely LOVE theme parks around here, so news of any kind of new attraction is pretty exciting!

Universal Studios

We’ll soon see the closure of Splash Mountain to be turned into Tiana’s Bayou Adventure in both Disney World and Disneyland, and there’s even a whole new theme park coming to Universal Orlando Resort! But, focusing more on the near future, we just found out that a NEW attraction is coming soon to Universal Orlando!

Illumination’s Villain-Con Minion Blast will open at Universal Studios Florida in the summer of 2023! This new ride will be located where Shrek 4-D used to be in the park.

Universal says this is a first-of-its-kind diabolical family attraction inspired by the Minions franchise. The blaster game experience will let you put your villainous skills to the test and compete against others to join the supervillains you know from the movies!

Universal says the attraction combines “innovative screen technology, state-of-the-art gaming interactivity and elaborate physical sets to create a one-of-a-kind, game-based adventure where guests encounter immersive environments, nefarious villains and tons of mischievous Minions from Illumination’s films in a whole new way.”

Construction in August

In the attraction, you will be transported to Villain-Con — the biggest criminal convention in the world. Here, you will take part in a competition to see if you have what it takes to become the newest member of The Vicious 6, the group of supervillains from Minions: The Rise of Gru.

If you’re up for the challenge, you can grab an interactive blaster and step onto a motion-based pathway to put your skills to the test. You’ll go through various scenes where you can earn points by blasting a variety of items and causing as much mayhem as possible.

Construction

Universal also said that this attraction will be part of the new Minion Land on Illumination Ave in the park, which features Despicable Me Minion Mayhem, a new Minion Café, and more.
