When it comes to weather, Florida is the kind of place where we say, “If you don’t like the weather, just wait.”
That’s because Florida weather is finicky: it can be sunshine and blue skies one minute and dark skies and thunderstorms the next. We’ve navigated everything from simple rainy days to tornado watches to hurricanes at Disney World, which is why we’ll always tell you to make sure raingear is on your packing list. That’s especially true for the upcoming 4th of July holiday weekend.
Yep, it’s supposed to rain throughout the 4th of July weekend. According to The Orlando Sentinel, higher rain chances are on the way, starting on Thursday (today) and increasing throughout the next few days. Thursday’s chances for rain are at 50% (although it’s 80% by 5PM).
On Friday, the chances for rain are even higher, at 60%. Saturday through Monday has a 50% chance of rain. Sunday could be particularly nasty because there’s also a 50% chance of thunderstorms.
The rain, though, won’t be cooling down anything: temperatures are expected to be to be in the low to mid-90s. Add in the humidity and it’s going to feel HOT!
One thing we recommend is making sure you have rain gear in your park bag, especially when the chances of rain are very high. You’ll also need to keep in mind that if there is lightning anywhere near Disney World, many attractions will close (including outdoor attractions). We’ve got a full list of everything that closes here.
With the heat and humidity, too, you’ll want to make sure you’re staying hydrated: bring a water bottle and use the parks’ refillable water stations and take advantage of the free water you can get at all four parks. Here’s everywhere you can get currently get free water. On top of that, you can read our review of a Disney poncho here!
