🎶 It’s gonna be May! 🎶 Or, well, I guess it already is…and Disney World is the place to BE this month!
There’s a LOT happening these days with big construction projects, new food, and big announcements, but that just means that your Disney World trip will be oh-so-exciting! So if you’re visiting soon, we’re breaking down the top five things you need to know about Disney World in May.
A New Ride is Coming
Let’s start with what’s probably the BIGGEST news of May — Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind is officially opening in EPCOT this month! The ride is set to open to the public on the 27th, and we couldn’t be more excited. In the weeks leading up to the big day, there will be previews for DVC members and Annual Passholders.
Recently, we’ve seen the construction walls come down and the nighttime lights come on. Now we’re just counting the days until EPCOT gets its first coaster!

A New Restaurant is Open
And speaking of new things in EPCOT, next door to Guardians is a new spot that you’ll definitely want to check out! Connections Cafe and Eatery is home to both a Starbucks location (the Cafe) and a quick service restaurant (the Eatery) and it opened up officially on April 27th.
We stopped by and tried out a BUNCH of items on the menu, and we were fairly impressed! Even though EPCOT has its fair share of dining spots, it’s nice to have this new one in the middle of the front of the park — a great snack break in the midst of a marathon of rides.

The Flower & Garden Festival Continues
Basically, there’s a LOT happening in EPCOT in the month of May, including the continuation of the International Flower & Garden Festival. This year’s fest started back in March and runs until July 4th, so you’ve still got two months to try all the delicious eats and drinks.
Not only does the festival have food, but throughout, you can also visit the gardens, snap photos with the creative topiaries, and enjoy the awesome talent of the bands at the Garden Rocks Concert Series. There’s SO much to do and see this year!

You Can Plan for Halloween
Finally moving out of EPCOT, let’s talk about Halloween! In May? Yeah, that’s right! Disney recently announced that Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party is returning for 2022, and tickets go on sale May 18th for the general public. Guests staying at a Disney World Resort hotel, the Swan and Dolphin hotels, or Shades of Green during one of the party nights can purchase their tickets as early as May 12th.
This year’s party is bringing back much of the fun that fans know and love from years past, including the Hocus Pocus Villain Spelltacular stage show, Mickey’s Boo to You! Parade, special character meet-and-greets, ride overlays, and more. It runs on select nights from August 12th-October 31st and it’s going to be popular, so be ready to buy those tickets ASAP.

It’s Time to Celebrate Star Wars
And, of course, we have to mention the holiday that’s made just for Star Wars fans — May the 4th! Each year, we typically find special treats in the parks or little celebrations (especially in Hollywood Studios), but Disney hasn’t announced anything yet.
However, if you’re still hoping to celebrate, there are literally dozens of Star Wars activities in Disney World. You can visit one of the three Star Wars rides, stop by the walkthrough exhibits of Star Wars Launch Bay, or eat at one of many space-themed restaurants. There’s plenty to do, and we guarantee that Galaxy’s Edge will be HOPPIN’.
