You may not be able to follow a rainbow to a pot of gold on St. Patrick’s Day in Disney World, but you CAN eat plenty of festive holiday treats to celebrate the occasion! Just when we FINALLY started to recover from the wave of blue-dyed treats for Disney World’s 50th Anniversary, Disney decided to switch it up and go green for St. Patrick’s Day.

We’ve been trying a LOT of green treats lately!

And, today we’re back at Disney’s Contemporary Resort to try a St. Patrick’s Day cupcake (or should we say ANOTHER St. Patrick’s Day cupcake)!

Before we show you the cupcake, we’re going to preface this with a note that the seasonal cupcake isn’t really NEW, it’s just green. We’ve tried many variations of this cupcake over the years in a range of colors — purple potion, millennial pink, imagination pink…you get the idea.

This year, Disney took the classic Minnie Mouse ear hat cupcake and dressed it up for spring! The St. Patrick’s Day Cupcake is a green (yep, it’s GREEN) cupcake filled with gold crispy pearls and topped with buttercream, green sugar, shamrock sprinkles, and white chocolate Minnie hat.

Even though this cupcake isn’t necessarily new, it’s still a REALLY good cupcake! The vanilla cake was fresh and moist, and there was an excellent cake-to-frosting ratio. And, SURPRISE — there’s a pot of gold inside! Well…not real gold, but you get the idea.

We love the little crispy pearls!

The crispy pearls on the inside make for a fun texture change and they add a nice crunch. We did find this cupcake to be on the messier side, and had to head straight to the bathroom to clean that green dye off of our hands right after!

Hurry over to Contempo Cafe before it’s too late!

The cupcake is $5.99 and would be a great treat for kids and adults alike who are looking for a simple dessert, but if you want to avoid having a green mess on your hands (literally), we’d skip this one!
