WAIT. You Can Get a Haunted Mansion Souvenir from 400 B.C. (!!) in Disney World?!

We know about the typical Disney World souvenirs like Spirit Jerseys, Minnie ears, popcorn buckets, and more, but there are also some super cool and unique items you can get while visiting Disney World!

There are rare pieces of art, limited edition items, super over-the-top versions of normal souvenirs, and even souvenirs that you only ever dreamed of having as a kid. We recently found an awesome souvenir in Disney World that is over 2500 years old!

Yeah, you read that right! There’s a souvenir in Disney World that is thought to be from around 400 B.C. Over at Art of Disney in Disney Springs, you can find these Salvaged Ancient Redwood carvings. The ones we saw are Haunted Mansion themed!

Ancient wood carvings of Phineas the Hitchhiking Ghost

These are made from ancient salvaged Giant Sequioas that are estimated to be over 2500 years old. But, don’t worry — no trees are harvested for lumber to create these carvings — they are carved from 100% salvaged Redwood. The pieces of wood used are remnants of Giant Redwoods that were felled by mid-century loggers before modern conservation measures were implemented. The wood was salvaged and preserved from private land under a Department of Forestry approved salvage plan.

Each of these carvings are hand finished and super detailed. The darker colors you can see are actually achieved by gently burning the outer surface of the wood use a pen torch. As you can see, these are themed to the Hitchhiking Ghosts!

And, each carving comes in a handmade finger-jointed wood crate that’s distressed and decorated like a mid-century fruit crate. The crates are also branded with the Disney Rondel logo using a real branding iron, along with an edition number that matches the one on the carving. The carvings come with a Disney certificate of authenticity as well. As these are super limited in quantity and made from ancient trees, they do come with a hefty price tag.

But, one of the coolest things about these carvings is that the artists will be gifting a limited number of free, live Giant Sequoia seedlings to collectors at D23 to plant their own “Future Old Growth Redwood Tree.” So, buying one of these carvings can help plant another Giant Redwood that will potentially live for THOUSANDS of years!

Mickey Mouse and Jiminy Cricket are the first 2 additions to the series, which is planned to grow to include many more editions. And, each addition to the series is limited to 150 units, so it’s a pretty rare Disney piece that you can own!

The Haunted Mansion 50th carvings have several options you can own — the 3 Hitchhiking Ghosts (Ezra, Gus, and Phineas), the Mansion Plaque, and the Bat Stanchion.
