Although Disney World water parks aren’t quite as popular as the theme parks, they still get their share of guests wanting to cool off on a hot Florida day.
The Blizzard Beach water park recently closed for refurbishment, but Disney World’s Typhoon Lagoon recently reopened (and brought some new snack options with it!). Typhoon Lagoon isn’t always available, though. In fact, it will be temporarily closed on select days in January.
When we checked hours on the Disney World website for Typhoon Lagoon, we first discovered that no hours were showing for January 18th.
The good news, though, was that Wednesday, January 19th, was showing normal hours on the Typhoon Lagoon page!
Over the weekend, however, Typhoon Lagoon closed once again due to cooler temperatures. The park was not open on Saturday, January 22nd, and the closure continued through January 27th.
Before, it looked like Typhoon Lagoon would reopen on January 28th, but recently we checked the website again and found that this park is now closed through January 31st. So if you’re visiting Disney World between now and the 31st, you won’t be able to go to Typhoon Lagoon.
Right now, the schedule is showing that Typhoon Lagoon is going to be open again on Tuesday, February 1st, and continue with normal hours into February.
The most likely reason for the unexpected closures is the chilly weather in Florida over the past few days and throughout the week.
Alex Alecci from WESH 2 News posted an update on Twitter warning locals about the cooler temps coming in this weekend!

As always, check the Disney World website for hours if you plan to visit a theme park or water park soon. And we’ll let you know if we spot any other closures, so check back with us often!
