The Story of Typhoon Lagoon
You’ll discover the story behind Typhoon Lagoon presented in a series of signs as you drive (or ride, by Disney bus transportation) towards the parking lot and bus stops: “A furious storm once roared ‘cross the sea, catching ships in its path, helpless to flee. Instead of a certain and watery doom, the winds swept them here to Typhoon Lagoon.”
One of those ships was the Miss Tilly, a shipwrecked shrimp boat that guests can still see to this day high atop Mount Mayday, providing a themed focal point for the whole park. But now?
Get ready for some waves!
Where will you head first?
Don’t forget to grab a park map.
Why the Disney World Water Parks Aren’t Worth Your Time in 2026 (Even When They’re Free!)
Typhoon Lagoon Attractions
From water slides to a lazy river and a massive surf pool…
… there is MUCH more than one way to make a splash on the attractions at Typhoon Lagoon!
Water Coaster
Yes, you CAN ride a coaster in a water park!
Okay, more specifically, you can ride a water coaster: winding and splashing through 3 chutes on the 400-foot-long tube slide that is the Crush ‘N’ Gusher. Guests must be 48 inches or taller to ride.
Water Slides
Slip and SLIDE your way around Typhoon Lagoon on the park’s many water slides!
- Gang Plank Falls: It’s a group slide down Gang Plank Falls, with oversized inner tubes that carry up to four guests.
- Keelhaul Falls: Take a solo inner tube ride and enjoy the views from Mount Mayday on Keelhaul Falls.
- Mayday Falls: Your Mayday Falls adventure will wind you through caves and underneath bridges on this solo inner tube trip. Disney shares that, of the three Falls-slides, Mayday is the “most intense.”
- Storm Slides: Will you slide down the Jib Jammer, Stern Burner, or Rudder Buster on the Storm Slides?
- Humunga Kowabunga: If you can brave a “near vertical” five-story drop down Mount Mayday, then YOU are ready to take on Humunga Kowabunga!
- Miss Adventure Falls: See the treasures of Captain Mary Oceaneer as you set sail on this whitewater rafting journey for groups of up to four!
Wave Pool
Get ready to catch some serious waves – we’re talking about 6-foot swells! – at the Typhoon Lagoon Surf Pool!
It just so happens to be North America’s largest wave pool.
Lazy River
Looking to relax and float the day away?
Then Castaway Creek, the lazy river that winds around the park, may be just your speed.
Just for Kids
Ketchakiddee Creek features shallow pools, mini water slides, and adventure upon the S.S. Squirt for children 4 feet and under.
Bay Slides features slides custom-made for guests 60 inches and under.
