It’s Thanksgiving week, and that means that millions of Americans will be traveling in the next few days!
Whether they’re headed to visit family in another part of the country or taking advantage of the days off of work to go on vacation, we’re expecting to see some very busy roads and airports (and theme parks, for that matter!). But exactly HOW many travelers will there be this holiday season? Let’s dig a little deeper!
We’ve already seen the crowds arriving in Walt Disney World with fully-booked Disney Park Pass reservations, long lines, and hoards of people in the walkways. But, those crowds are extending to other parts of Orlando as well! The Orlando International Airport (MCO) reports that more than 930,000 travelers will be passing through from today through Tuesday, November 30th. That’s wild!
The busiest days of this #Thanksgiving travel period have arrived with more than 930k travelers passing through today until Tuesday, 11/30. If you’re one of our travelers please make sure to plan ahead, arrive early and pack your patience. pic.twitter.com/8Hrzn74pOE

But what if we look even broader than Central Florida? Well, WESH Orlando reports that more than 55 million Americans will be traveling this weekend for the holiday season. And despite the fact that gas prices are hitting record highs, 90% of travelers will be driving. That’s 49.5 million people on the roads in the next few days!
However you travel this weekend, make sure to be safe. If you’re heading to an airport, arrive early and be patient throughout what will likely be a longer process than usual. We’ll make sure to keep reporting any important travel news that you need to know. Oh, and Happy Thanksgiving from DFB! 🦃
