We Did NOT Expect to See a LONG Line for This Disney World Attraction Today!

Now that the kick-off of Disney World’s 50th Anniversary has, well…kicked off, crowds are a little more manageable at the parks again.

But it IS the weekend, which means there are a few more people in the parks today than previously this week. They are ready to eat some 50th anniversary snacks, take in a nighttime show or two, and try to find all the 50 golden character statues. We’re doing the same, but we’ve noticed something odd: the longest line today is actually for something that surprised us!

While we were at Disney’s Animal Kingdom today, we saw a really long line for…wait for it… Rafiki’s Planet Watch? Or rather, the line is for the Wildlife Express Train that takes guests to Rafiki’s Planet Watch.

The only ride this attraction boasts is the train itself that lets guests see a little bit of Animal Kingdom’s backstage. Once they arrive at Rafiki’s Planet Watch, they can pet animals at the Affection Section, watch veterinarians do their thing through glass windows at the park’s veterinary care facilities, or learn to draw the Disney way at the Animation Experience.

The line for all that extended well into the park this morning, which is something we rarely see.

We’re not sure why the line is so long, but hey, Rafiki’s Planet Watch is usually a super underrated area of the park! In the meantime, stay tuned for more news from Disney World.
