What’s New in EPCOT: A Popcorn Bucket, Gift Shop Changes, and SUPER Low Crowds!

It’s about to be a very busy few weeks at EPCOT!

We’ve got some busy days coming soon!

A new gift shop and the reimagined Club Cool open up next week, followed by the grand opening of the Space 220 restaurant on September 20th. After that, the 50th Anniversary of Walt Disney World kicks off on October 1st with a new fireworks show, restaurant, and ride opening to the public. But what’s going on this week in the park? Check out our experience the past few days!

EPCOT Construction Update

In the park’s main gift shop, Mouse Gear, walls and displays continue to move around as Disney prepares to open the new Creations Shop next week. The new gift shop is set to open on September 15th, so we expect to see many changes at this temporary store until then.

Things had moved around a little bit since our last visit.

Also opening with the new Creations Shop next week is the revamped Club Cool location. We can’t wait to check it all out!

EPCOT Merchandise Update

At the popcorn stand near Mission: SPACE, we spotted an old friend, the Cauldron Popcorn Bucket! This year’s version is purple.

It’s purple!

You can pick up this bucket for $17 and get refills of popcorn around the parks for a small fee. It doubles as a fun souvenir and some spooky decor!

EPCOT Crowd Updates

We also noticed in the past few days that the Labor Day weekend crowds have officially disappeared. Things were busier than they had been on Friday-Monday, but it’s back to the quiet park that we’ve been seeing in recent weeks.

Look how empty it is in the France Pavilion.

Wait times have been pretty moderate and it’s much easier to social distance now, with wide-open spaces in the World Showcase and all around the park. We doubt this will last too long — it’s likely to be incredibly packed here for the 50th Anniversary!
