Streaming services have been taking over the entertainment industry for a while now, as their popularity increases. Disney has even started releasing new movies on a dual platform, both on Disney+ and in theaters (which has led to some conflicts as well).

We’ve seen recent price jumps for Disney’s streaming services, with an increase for Disney+ in March of this year and an increase for ESPN+ just last month. Now, Hulu has announced a price increase that will be going into effect soon.
Hulu’s price increase will affect both tiers of streaming — the with-ads version and the no-ads version. The basic (with-ads) version will increase from $5.99/month to $6.99/month. The premium (no-ads) version will increase from $11.99/month to $12.99/month. These changes go into effect on October 8th, 2021.

The price increase will NOT affect the prices for the Disney bundle, which includes Disney+, ESPN+, and Hulu. This bundle currently costs $13.99/month (with an extra $6/month charge for the no-ads version of Hulu). The price change also does not affect the Hulu Live TV price.

Disney has cited the addition of several Bollywood titles and Hotstar originals as the reason for this price increase. The company reported almost 174 million total subscribers across Disney+, Hulu, and ESPN+ this summer according to Deadline News, so it’s clear there’s a high demand for streaming right now!
