A lot is happening around Walt Disney World as we gear up for the 50th Anniversary!
50th Anniversary merchandise is already out and about!
Decorations went up on Cinderella Castle, signs are getting painted, rides are getting refurbished, and so much more. Right now, work is in progress on the new lighting package coming to Spaceship Earth at EPCOT, and we got a sneak peek!
During the 50th Anniversary, all four park icons will be transformed into what Disney calls “Beacons of Magic” at night. Spaceship Earth is getting a permanent makeover as part of this new display, and Imagineer Zach Riddley (on Instagram @thezachriddley) shared a few photos and details from the design process.
This is the first time that we’ve seen the lights turned on up close (we saw them from further away recently), and it’s definitely cool to see the effect in action.
So bright it’s making our camera confused!!
We’re interested to see what the finished product looks like — you’ll know we’ll be there on October 1st to check it out!
