While Disney’s theme parks around the world have reopened, there’s one thing that hasn’t quite become fully available yet…Disney Cruise Line.
Disney Cruise Line is running some staycation cruises out of the United Kingdom this summer, but Disney’s ships have not yet been able to sail from the United States. Previously, Disney was set to run a test cruise out of Florida, but that was ultimately canceled. Now, we’ve got an update on what’s going on with Disney Cruise Line at the moment!
As we mentioned above, Disney Cruise Line was previously set to run a test cruise out of Florida, but that was later postponed due to “a small number of inconsistent COVID-19 test results, which [were] considered positive by the CDC.”
Why does Disney need to run a test cruise at all? Well, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention have a set of requirements cruises must meet in order to start sailing again with paying passengers. These requirements are set forth in the CDC’s Framework for Conditional Sailing Order.
One of the requirements cruises must meet to resume sailing is the successful completion of test cruises, unless the cruise line agrees to sail with 98% of the crew and 95% of the passengers fully vaccinated.
Disney’s previous test cruise was postponed, but now a new test cruise date has been set. According to Spectrum News, Disney Cruise Line will set sail and conduct its test cruise this Saturday, July 17th, from Port Canaveral.
This cruise will actually be the first simulated cruise being run out of Port Canaveral. Cast Members will board the Disney Cruise Line ship from 9:30 AM to 1:30 PM on Saturday for the simulated cruise.
Spectrum News notes that Carnival Cruise Line’s Mardi Gras is set to be the first revenue-making cruise to sail from Port Canaveral. Its departure is planned for July 31st.
We’ll continue to keep an eye out for more updates about Disney Cruise Line and let you know what we find.
