An exciting new service will be making its way to Orlando International Airport!
There are some exciting additions heading to Orlando International Airport. Of course, there’s the new Brightline train to Disney World that’s currently in the works. And we also recently learned that one of our FAVORITE Disney World restaurants will receive a location inside the airport soon! Speaking of awesome airport dining news, there’s another new option headed to Orlando International Airport in the future.
According to Orlando Business Journal, Orlando International Airport is looking for a tech firm to create a mobile ordering and delivery app for passengers to get food, drinks, and more while they wait for flights in the North Terminal.
Airport documents state that they will issue a request for proposals in June for a firm to “develop, install and maintain operation of a mobile order and delivery platform for retail and food and beverage concessionaires” in the North Terminal. The five-year contract is set to be awarded in October, and the company that wins the deal will share a minimum of 10% of gross receipts from its operations at the airport.
This move will allow Orlando International Airport to join the growing list of airports around the country that offer food delivery services. For example, both Philadelphia International Airport and the Tom Bradley International terminal section of the Los Angeles International Airport both offer food delivery to passengers waiting at their gates.
Orlando International Airport has been focused on improving the passenger experience for those flying in and out of the airport to ensure their visits are bookended by positive interactions. This move will allow the airport to offer an additional service to simplify the passenger experience.
We will continue to provide updates on other services and experiences coming to the Orlando International Airport, so stay tuned to Disney Food Blog for all of the latest information.
