UPDATE: As of May 6th, eligible out-of-state guests are able to purchase tickets online. Previously, guests had to buy tickets at the gate only, but online is now an option.
Universal Studios Hollywood has officially reopened!
And after an addendum was added to California’s Blueprint for a Safer Economy, specifying that “fully vaccinated persons from out of state may visit or attend activities or events that are restricted to in-state visitors,” there have been LOTS of questions about who can visit these reopened theme parks. Disneyland has already specified that out-of-state guests will not be permitted inside the parks, despite this addendum. But Universal Studios Hollywood is a different story.
Language on Universal Studios Hollywood’s website now specifies that guests who are fully vaccinated may visit from out-of-state. It adds that proof of vaccination, as well as a photo ID, will be required for park entry.
Further details specify that, interestingly enough, only out-of-state guests ages 16 and over will be allowed in the parks. This is because children under 16 cannot currently receive the COVID-19 vaccine, and the California addendum emphasizes that only fully vaccinated out-of-state visitors may participate in these types of activities.
Out-of-state guests will only be able to purchase tickets at the front gate, if capacity allows. Acceptable proof of vaccination includes a vaccination card or a photo of the vaccination card, or documentation of vaccination from a healthcare provider. You will need to show this documentation at the time of purchase.
In short: if you are fully vaccinated (and thus over the age of 16), you’re now eligible to visit Universal Studios Hollywood! Note that Disneyland’s policy still states that only California residents may attend. We’ll keep you posted if that changes, though, so stay tuned to DFB!
