The CDC has released new travel guidelines.
The CDC recently issued their next phase of requirements for cruises to resume, leading to backlash from Florida senators and a lawsuit from Florida Governor Ron DeSantis. However, the CDC is continuing to release new restrictions that could influence cruise travel — and its most recent notice affects the Bahamas in particular.
The CDC has updated its travel notice for the Bahamas from a level 3 (“high level of CIVD-19”) to a level 4 (“very high level of COVID-19”), emphasizing that “travelers should avoid all travel to the Bahamas.” The statement cites the fact that even fully vaccinated individuals could catch or spread COVID-19 variants.
If people do travel to the Bahamas, the CDC encourages full vaccination, mask-wearing, and social distancing.
This comes after the CDC stated that it was safe for fully vaccinated Americans to travel once again. However, the issue of COVID-19 variants complicates the current level of safety in the Bahamas.
The Disney Cruise Line has, as of now, canceled select sailings through October 2021 — including those in and around the Bahamas. So while these new restrictions do not immediately impact Disney cruises, they may play a role in how soon they can return. We’ll keep you posted with the latest news, so stay tuned to DFB!
