Today is the day! Tickets went on sale today for Disneyland, which is reopening on April 30th, over a year after it closed.

And yes, we’ve been in a LONG virtual line to get those tickets, but we’ve also been in a line to get reservations for the Grand Californian, which reopens on April 29th.
So how can YOU book those reservations for the Grand Californian? We’ll break it down for you!
Step 1: Visit the Disneyland Website
First go to the Disneyland website under “Build Your Vacation” and choose the dates you want to find reservations for. You can also click “Places to Stay” and select the Grand Californian.

Step 2: Wait
You’ll then be put into a virtual queue. And yes, you might have to wait… also, check out that cute Big Thunder Mountain Railroad goat graphic!

We got really used to staring at Mr. Goat today.
Step 3: Check Availability
Once your wait is over, you’ll get a “Check Availability” menu. You’ll need to make sure to put in the dates you want to check in and check out here. Also, don’t forget that the hotel doesn’t reopen until April 29th. Choose your party size and then click on “Find A Room.” If you need an accessible room, be sure to check the “Accessible Rooms” checkbox.

Step 4: Choose Your Room
You’ll then have a chance to look at the rooms available for your dates and their nightly rates. Select the room you’re interested in by clicking on “Select.”

After your heart rate slows down from looking at those room prices, you can proceed to actually buy the room!
Step 5: Purchase Tickets
You will also be given the option to add tickets to the cost of your package. And considering the long wait for tickets, it’s probably best to do this all at once if you’re booking tickets PLUS a hotel room for your Disneyland trip. If you don’t want tickets, select “No Ticket.” Otherwise, choose the specific ticket you want. However, don’t forget that you will need park pass reservations to enter the park.

Step 6: Agree to the COVID-19 Waiver
Only California residents are currently allowed in the Disneyland theme parks. This was not specified for hotels. Much like when booking for Disney World, there are some terms and conditions you’ll need to agree to before continuing. Click on the checkbox to agree.

You’re basically just agreeing that you know some stuff will be different in the hotels and parks due to the pandemic.
Step 7: Finalize Your Reservation and Tickets
The last step is to finalize your reservations and tickets, then you can choose your payment, confirm, and submit your order. That’s it — you’ve just made a reservation for the Grand Californian Hotel at Disneyland! Great job!
We will note some folks on our team had luck getting into the booking system FAST. Others hit a lengthy wait. There didn’t seem to be a pattern to it or one device or browser faster than another in this case, but something worth noting. If you’re hit with a wait, maybe see if you can try on multiple browsers or your phone as well.
We’re following all things Disneyland, so stay tuned for what we hope is more helpful information!
