To say we’re fans of Disney’s Imagineers would be an understatement. And one of the most noteworthy Imagineering icons is Joe Rohde!  

If you’re also a fan of Disney Imagineering, then you might want to know that Rohde is auctioning off some VERY special items from Disney’s Animal Kingdom’s opening day online! This is not a drill! 

In the months following Joe Rohde’s retirement, he’s kept us on our toes with online garage sales, providing a SUPER cool glimpse into the memorabilia that went into the creation of the Disney World park!

Now, he’s at it again! Rohde took to Instagram to announce he’s auctioning off some RARE items from the opening day of Animal Kingdom!

“Retirement involves downsizing a bit which has surfaced a pile of old Disney memorabilia from 40 years of ‘Oh that might be worth something,’” says Rohde in his Instagram post, who notes that select items are now in the hands of a friend of his who is auctioning them on eBay. 

The prize item is Disney’s Animal Kingdom Opening Day Backpack, and its current bid is already past $1,100 on the site! It comes with a Grand Opening Day Celebration glass plaque, baseball cap, two vintage Coke bottles with stamped logos, an American Express/Animal Kingdom waist bag, and even a Windows CD-ROM Walt Disney World Explorer game, which is sure to transport you back to the ‘90s!
