Disneyland’s theme parks have been closed for OVER a year now, but soon both Disneyland Park and Disney California Adventure Park will be reopening!
In advance of the theme parks reopening, Disneyland has updated some information on their website about unused tickets. If you were planning to visit Disneyland last year before the parks were closed, you had already purchased your tickets, and you weren’t able to use some or all of your tickets, this is information you need to know.
The Disneyland website now specifically notes that if you have some unused tickets, you might still have some options to visit the Disneyland theme parks when they reopen. But, it all depends on the kinds of unused tickets you have.
So, for example, if you have unused non-promotional single-day tickets that expired on December 30th, 2020 or are set to expire on March 31st, 2021, those tickets will actually have their expiration dates extended to December 16th, 2021.
If you have non-promotional multi-day tickets that are entirely unused and those expired on January 12th, 2021 or are set to expire on April 13th, 2021 — those tickets’ expiration dates will be extended to December 16th, 2021. The ticket will then expire either 13 days after their first use or on December 16th, 2021, whichever takes place first.
The situation is a little different though, if you’ve got multi-day tickets and you used your first visit between February 28th, 2020 and March 12th, 2020. If you fall into that category, but you haven’t reached your ticket’s maximum number of uses, then your unused tickets will actually have their 13-day expiration period extended to December 16th, 2021.
You can see more directly from the Disneyland website below.
There are also special situations for unused non-promotional single day tickets that expire on different days, the Southern California Resident Ticket, promotional child tickets, promotional Canada Resident Tickets, and other specific ticket types. You can see a screenshot of more information from the Disneyland website below, so you can see what situation applies to you.
Disney also notes that the expiration dates for eligible tickets will be updated before Disneyland’s theme parks reopen. Once they’re updated, you’ll be able to link your ticket to your Disney account to check the updated expiration date.
So, if you had some unused tickets for Disneyland, be sure to see if any of these rules apply to you, and check for those updated expiration dates when you link your ticket to your Disney account. Just a reminder that when Disneyland reopens on April, under the current rules, only California residents will be able to enter the parks.
We’ll keep an eye out for more updates about Disneyland’s reopening and let you know what we find!
