NEWS: Disneyland Shares Additional Details About On-Site Vaccine Distribution

Yesterday, it was announced that Disneyland would become Orange County’s first mass vaccination site.

Disneyland will serve as one of five large-scale vaccination sites within the county. Not many specific details were shared during yesterday’s announcement, and we now have a few more updates!

Orange County’s mass vaccine sites are referred to as “point-of-dispensing” sites, or Super PODS. These sites are expected to vaccinate thousands of Orange County residents each day. Throughout the county, vaccines are currently being distributed in a phased, tiered approach created by the California Department of Public Health. Here’s what we know about how vaccinations will take place in Disneyland.

The Disneyland Super POD location will be located at the Toy Story Parking lot on Katella Ave, across the street from the Anaheim Convention Center.

The current phase of vaccine distributions includes law enforcement first responders that serve in high-risk communities, as well as those 75 years of age or older. Those eligible must also either live or work in Orange County. Vaccinations are available by appointment only, and individuals will likely be contacted by their employer to schedule an appointment at the Disneyland Super POD site.

This vaccination site is expected to become operational later this week. Supervisor Doug Chaffee shared, “I’m proud to have Disneyland Resorts and the City of Anaheim, both in my Fourth District, be the first of the Super POD sites in Orange County.”

Coronavirus cases in California continue to soar, and these mass vaccination sites are seen as “absolutely critical in stopping this deadly virus,” Supervisor Doug Chaffee also noted.
