It’s the most wonderful time of the year!
That means that holiday flavors are ALL over the place, and we’re here for it! We’ve tried so many festive goodies around Disney World, and now we’re trying another one at Disney’s Wilderness Lodge!
We moseyed on over to this rustic resort and stopped into Roaring Fork where we spotted the Christmas Cupcake! We’ve tried some a lot of tree-inspired desserts this Christmas season, including the Christmas tree cupcake at Magic Kingdom and the adorable Christmas tree mousse at Disney’s Hollywood Studios! So, we were excited to see where this one stood in our rankings.
The cupcake is a spiced cake with raspberry filling and vanilla buttercream. And look how festive and cheerful it looks! This is a sizable cupcake, with a green vanilla buttercream, a dusting of powder sugar “snow,” holiday sprinkles, and a yellow fondant star on top! But looks aren’t everything, so how did it taste?
When Disney says this is a spiced cupcake, they MEANT it! There was LOADS of ginger and cinnamon. Don’t confuse spiced with spicy — this cupcake isn’t HOT, but it definitely has tons of warm winter flavors in the cake.
The cupcake also have the perfect amount of buttercream on top, which helped to balance out the bold flavors in the moist pastry.
We also really liked the raspberry filling, but this may be a cupcake where the components are better than the sum of its parts. The cupcake was moist and filled with spices, and the raspberry filling was fruity, but they just didn’t really go together for our palate.
You can grab this over at Wilderness Lodge’s Roaring Fork for $5.99. While this was a nice Christmas treat, it was not our favorite of the season. However, if you are staying at or near this resort, this will fill those sweet-tooth cravings! We will continue to make our way around Disney World trying all of the new holiday treats as they come in!
