NEWS! A Milestone Moment for Disney+ As Streaming Service Reaches 50 Million Subscribers

The Disney+ streaming service made its debut on November 12, 2019.

And now, within just five months of the launch, a major milestone has been reached, as Disney+ now has more than 50 MILLION subscribers around the globe!

In the past two weeks, Disney+ has also launched in eight Western European countries including the United Kingdom, Ireland, France, Germany, Italy, Spain, Austria, and Switzerland. And Disney+ officially launched in India on April 3rd (presented in conjunction with the existing Hotstar service), which accounts for approximately 8 million subscribers so far. The streaming service is now available in more than a dozen countries, with more on the way.

Kevin Mayer, chairman of Walt Disney Direct-to-Consumer & International shared the following: “We’re truly humbled that Disney+ is resonating with millions around the globe, and believe this bodes well for our continued expansion throughout Western Europe and into Japan and all of Latin America later this year.” And, “Great storytelling inspires and uplifts, and we are in the fortunate position of being able to deliver a vast array of great entertainment rooted in joy and optimism on Disney+.”
