D23 Expo to Give an Exclusive Look into "Frozen 2," "Onward," "Soul," and More!

We cannot wait to see all that the weekend (which will take place in Anaheim, CA from August 23-25, 2019) has in store, especially after D23’s latest announcement for the Expo!

The 2019 D23 Expo is going to be filled with magic as attendees will get to hear exciting announcements, see presentations and never-before-seen-footage from Pixar and Walt Disney Animation Studios. They will also get to experience some pretty awesome photo opportunities and autograph signings.

So, let’s dive into the details!

Saturday, August 24

According to D23, at 10 AM in Hall D23, Walt Disney Animation Studios’ Chief Creative Officer Jennifer Lee and Pixar Animation Studios’ Chief Creative Officer Pete Docter will be presenting never-before-seen-footage and sharing a few exciting announcements.

This is also where attendees will catch musical performances and appearances by some of the talents from a few upcoming films.

There will also be a sneak peek into Frozen 2, presented by the directors, Chris Buck, Jennifer Lee, and producer Peter Del Vecho. They will be sharing brand new details about the upcoming film.

And…the fun doesn’t stop there as director Dan Scanlon and producer Kori Rae will be introducing everyone to the characters from Pixar’s upcoming film, Onward.

Pete Docter and producer Dana Murray will also be sharing exciting details on the new film, Soul — which you can read more about here!

In the D23 Expo Arena, you’ll find The Little Mermaid: The 30th Anniversary Celebration. This will be hosted by Jodi Benson (the voice of Ariel) and is sure to be a spectacular “Under the Sea” experience.

Sunday, August 25, 12 PM

At the Walt Disney Archives Stage, you’ll find Hidden Gems of the Walt Disney Animation Research Library: Preserving and Inspiring the Disney Legacy. The Walt Disney Animation Research Library has gathered and preserved millions of pieces of original Disney Animation art. This seminar will give attendees the ability to learn about these hidden gems and more.

Sunday, August 25, 4 PM

On Stage 28, you will find the World Premiere: Walt Disney Animation Studios Presents Short Circuit. Here the experimental short film, Short Circuit, will be presented. It will officially debut in Spring 2020 on Disney+. At this seminar, artists and filmmakers will share their films for the first time and will give behind-the-scenes details.

All Weekend Long

From 9 AM to 6 PM on the Show Floor, the studios will team up to present an immersive animation experience. This is where you will learn more about Frozen 2 and Onward. You’ll also have the chance to meet people from behind the scenes, while receiving autograph signings of exclusive art. There will also be a promotional giveaway, so be on the lookout for that!

When it comes to photo ops, there is going to be a real-life version of Guinevere, the van from Pixar’s Onward. This thing is going to look just like the real deal with crescent moon windows and a “Pegacorn” painted on the sides!
