In case you haven’t heard, there is currently a switcheroo taking place with Counter Service locations in Disney’s Hollywood Studios. ABC Commissary is gearing up for a new style of dinner service starting June 2nd. So the spot is currently closed to make some preparations.
Enter PizzeRizzo!
This Muppets-themed Counter Service pizza joint switched to “seasonal” operating status in October, to be available to guests during the park’s busiest seasons — or in situations like this, when a regular dining location is not in operation for some reason.
The menu at PizzeRizzo really hasn’t changed all that much (and likely never will, what with “pizza” being more than implied in the restaurant’s name). But one new item did catch our attention. In addition to the previously available Cannoli, a Peanut Butter and Jelly Verrine is a new dessert option.
While trifle/parfait-style verrines have been available at various Counter Service locations all over Hollywood Studios for months now, they most recently came back into the spotlight as part of the park’s 30th Anniversary Celebration specialty snacks.
The Peanut Butter and Jelly Verrine is obviously a play on the classic sandwich.
The peanut butter base is like a mousse in texture, with peanut butter and chocolate chip bits mixed throughout, with the chocolate lending the dish more of a sweet treat taste.
The grape jelly is present on the top and bottom, but only the top features a sprinkling of crumbled peanut butter cups.
Though this one is all its own style, the Peanut Butter and Jelly Verrine resembles the other verrines in that it’s not overly sweet, which is a really nice aspect of these desserts. But the Peanut Butter and Jelly Verrine still stands on its own as another great addition to the current “Verrine Scene” at Disney’s Hollywood Studios!
We really do recommend giving this one a try over the Cannoli at PizzeRizzo. (You can fix your Cannoli craving at Epcot.)
So that’s what’s new at PizzeRizzo! Stop by this seasonally open spot while you still can! (Although, don’t worry too much… once the crowds arrive for Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge starting August 29th, we may be seeing our pal Rizzo and his pizza spot open a lot more often!)
