A Former Disneyland Cast Member Is Suing The Walt Disney Company

Another lawsuit has been filed against the Walt Disney Company.

According to the Daily Pilot, a former Disneyland Cast Member filed the lawsuit in which she alleges that she was wrongfully terminated in 2023 after having her cell phone turned on while on-stage as a ride operator in Fantasyland. When you become a Disney Cast Member, you are introduced to the Five Keys that Disney uses as a set of core values. Of those five values, safety is Disney’s number one priority, especially for ride operating Cast Members.

NEWS: FCC Says It Will Begin Investigating Disney Over DEI Practices

The Trump administration announced last month that it would begin investigating companies like Comcast and Verizon due to their Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) practices.

Now, the chairman of the Federal Communications Commission (FCC), says he will “likely start probing” those same practices at the Walt Disney Company as well, per Business Insider.

BREAKING: The Walt Disney Company Plans to Lay Off 200 Employees

The Wall Street Journal reported that Disney is planning to cut nearly 6% of their staff across ABC News and other Disney entertainment networks. The layoffs can start as early as today, Wednesday, March 5th.

NEWS: Disney Announces Changes to DEI Standards

The Walt Disney Company has announced that its Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) standards are changing.

According to Axios, a note was sent to employees of the company on Tuesday, February 11th, from chief human resources officer Sonia Coleman, with an outline noting the way that the company’s DEI standards and efforts will change.

NEWS: DEI Language Removed from Latest Disney Investor Report

More than a dozen of the biggest companies in the United States have deleted some or all references to “diversity, equity, and inclusion” and “DEI” from their most recent annual investor reports — including Disney.

According to NPR, Disney, Google, GM, GE, Pepsi, Intel, PayPal, Chipotle, Comcast, 3M, Regeneron, and Philip Morris have either recently deleted or “softened” their DEI language.

Disney Confirms ESPN News During Investor Call

Disney may have canceled Venu, a sports streaming service, before it even launched, but Disney is still moving forward with its ESPN direct-to-consumer streaming service.

Previously, Disney had announced a sports-related streaming service called Venu, which was ultimately scrapped in early 2025 (after Disney agreed to buy a 70% stake in Fubo — a smaller streaming service that relies heavily on sports content). But during Disney’s 2025 Q1 earnings call, they shared more information about their hopes for the new ESPN service.

NEWS: Disney Announces Increased Cash Dividend Following “Highly Successful Year”

The Walt Disney Company has been going through quite a few changes lately, and it all started with the return of Bob Iger to his previous position of CEO.

Overall, the company’s financials have been trending upwards, with Disney finally issuing cash dividends to shareholders in late 2022 after years of being paused. We recently learned just how Disney was doing during the final earnings call of fiscal year 2024, and now, Disney has announced another cash dividend increase for shareholders.

Typically, during these earnings calls, Disney gives us a look into how the company as a whole is doing. Disney has so many new projects on the horizon, including new movies and TV shows, new attractions, lands, and restaurants in the parks. Plus, more Disney cruise ships are on their way!
