But here’s the thing, even Disney hotels aren’t immune to refurbishments, and if you’re planning a trip soon, there’s one popular resort you may want to think twice about booking.
Planning a 2026 trip to Disney World is different. Between new attractions opening, lands being re-imagined, and entire areas under refurbishment, the resort is going to feel more like a construction zone than a polished theme park vacation at times.

While ride refurbishments and theme park expansions dominate Disney World construction discourse, hotel projects hardly go unnoticed. Hotel construction affects where you’ll stay and what kind of lodging experience, after all. In fact, 13 hotels are already scheduled to undergo significant construction. Construction is currently ongoing ALL around Disney World Resort, and while it’s all to make things better, more exciting, and add more value to the parks for guests, when it’s all happening at the same time? That can get a little rough! We’ve been keeping a close eye on the refurbishment happening over at the Contemporary Resort, and it looks like something unfortunate has happened — the construction has just been extended yet again, now meaning it’s going to take over three years to complete this project.

Disney World is undergoing a lot of changes, like Big Thunder Mountain’s lengthy refurbishment, the Muppets are leaving their courtyard, and Animal Kingdom is in the early stages of a BIG makeover! But we’ve got some good news about the construction walls in Disney World — one major hotel change is finally complete, and we’re checking it out today.
