The Disneyland Resort and the state of California have been at a bit of an impasse over the past few weeks as Disneyland and Disney California Adventure are the only Disney theme parks in the world that remain closed due to the global health crisis.
The reopening plan for the resort relies on the release of guidelines from the California Government and Disney has been pushing for this guidance. Now, it looks like it may be a little longer before the guidelines are released.
Disneyland is currently in the seventh month of its historic closure, and many are wondering when the state of California will release the theme park industry guidelines needed in order to reopen.
Today, California Health and Human Services Secretary Dr. Mark Ghaly held a video conference call providing an update on the state’s reopening blueprint and where each county stands in their own reopening process, and commented on the whereabouts of the state’s reopening guidelines for the theme park industry.

Now, an organization who represents major theme parks in the state of California, including Disneyland, is calling on the governor to issue the key industry guidelines needed to reopen.
Today, California Governor Gavin Newsom held a news conference where he provided an update on the state’s reopening initiatives. While taking questions from reporters, Newsom commented that the negotiations with theme parks are “open-ended,” signaling that the state has yet to produce definitive reopening guidelines for Disneyland.
It was also announced today that Orange County, where Disneyland resides, has advanced to the next reopening tier. According to the city of Anaheim’s reopening website, that means that indoor dining can resume soon!
While Downtown Disney has been open for Guests for two months, we still have no word on when Disneyland will reopen its two theme parks. No updates have been provided from Disneyland since they delayed the reopening of the parks, originally scheduled to take place on July 17.
