Not all Disney cruises are equal…
In typical Disney fashion, the Disney Cruise Line offers all sorts of theming — including tailored experiences that celebrate the holidays and Disney IP. Throughout the year, prospective sailors have several opportunities to enjoy these events, but picking which one is right for you and your family is tricky. Luckily, we’re here to help!
The Disney Cruise Line offers Special Days at Sea and Holiday Cruises that feature day-long celebrations that involve delightfully spooky festivities, the opportunity to meet Santa, hang out with your favorite Marvel heroes, or party with the Pixar pals! Let’s take a closer look at these events!
Marvel Days at Sea
These Marvel-themed days are available on Disney 4 and 5-night cruises out of Galveston, Texas, aboard the Disney Magic on select dates in late January through mid-March 2027.
These Marvel-themed days include encounters with characters like Spider-Man, Thor, Loki, Black Panther, Captain Marvel, Sam Wilson, Steve Rogers, Okoye, Star-Lord, Gamora, and Black Widow!
You can also view the following extravaganzas:
- MARVEL HEROES UNITE: “Families assemble for a rousing nighttime spectacular featuring incredible stunts, dazzling special effects, and jaw-dropping pyrotechnics. Witness an incredible lineup of Marvel Super Heroes—and Villains—in this epic, time-warping battle that spans the multiverse!”
- WARRIORS OF WAKANDA SHOW: “Get ready to learn the ways of the Dora Milaje during this exciting show featuring Okoye, the noble General of an elite group of warriors serving Wakanda. Recruits will meet in the atrium to see what it takes to train alongside the mighty Dora Milaje in a thrilling experience for the whole family.”
- STAR-SPANGLED MUSICAL REVUE: “Don’t miss this fun-filled tribute to Captain America, complete with vintage big band song-and-dance numbers in the Fathoms nightclub. There may even be a special appearance from the ‘Star-Spangled Man with a Plan!'”
- MICKEY & MINNIE’S SUPER HERO CELEBRATION: “Join in the fun as Mickey Mouse, Minnie Mouse and friends dress up to honor their favorite Marvel Super Heroes! Young cruisers won’t want to miss this opportunity to have some fun with the gang.”
Of course, there are also plenty of activities like the ability to dress as your favorite Marvel character, Marvel movies inside the Buena Vista Theatre, and on deck, interactive superhero training, Funnel Vision screenings, an interactive Super Hero session, family trivia, and an Animation Academy that teaches you how to draw your favorite Marvel heroes.
Basically, if you or your family are OBSESSED with Marvel, this event is a MUST!
Pixar Days at Sea
You can immerse yourself in the world of Pixar with Pixar Days at Sea aboard the Disney Fantasy on select 5-night itineraries sailing to The Bahamas in late-January through April 2027!
There are some pretty fun character encounters in this one, and you can meet Woody and Buzz Lightyear from Toy Story, Mike and Sulley from Monsters, Inc., Edna Mode from The Incredibles, Joy from Inside Out, and Miguel from Coco.
The Pixar-themed entertainment includes character greeting, pool parties, and dance parties! They are as follows:
- PIXAR PALS CELEBRATION: “Join your favorite Pixar pals for a high-energy deck party with music and dancing.”
- EDNA MODE’S STYLE ON PARADE: “Don your best Pixar-inspired outfit and strut your stuff on the runway for the incredible fashion designer, Edna Mode.”
- CRUSH’S TOTALLY AWESOME POOL PARTY: “Make a splash at a poolside party hosted by Crush, live from the big blue on the big screen. His Pixar Party Patrol (the Surface Squad) will be on deck, leading the fun with games, dancing, and tons of ocean-sized good times.”
However, what really stands out here are the character meals! There’s the Hey Howdy Breakfast with live music and sing-alongs, Pixar Days at Sea Dinner that features dishes inspired by the commissary at the California-based Pixar Animation Studios, Anyone Can Cook live demo cooking experience that teaches you how to cook Remy’s signature dish from Ratatouille, and Undersea Magic with Crush at Animator’s Palate — which even comes with a special visit from fan-favorite Finding Nemo characters.
The character meals are extra special with this event, so if you want to blend a dining experience with Pixar fun, Pixar Days at Sea are PERFECT for you and your family!
Halloween on the High Seas
Sailing during the Halloween season has never been better! Halloween on the High Seas features plenty of not-so-scary parties, packed with tasty treats, bewitching entertainment, and eerie décor. These seasonal sailings are available on the Disney Magic, Disney Fantasy, Disney Wish, Disney Dream, Disney Treasure, and Disney Destiny from late September through Halloween.
The theming for this event is excellent! You can take in the sight of the stunning Pumpkin Tree in the ship’s Atrium (each ship has its own unique Tree) and partake in special activities and experiences (these vary by ship). Guests are invited and encouraged to bring their own Halloween costumes for these sailings!
Mickey’s Mouse-querade is a Deck Party “scare-a-bration” with favorite Disney friends wearing their very own Halloween costumes (so don’t forget to bring yours)!
Speaking of which, there are several Halloween character meet-and-greets, and you can meet characters like Mickey, Minnie, Donald, Daisy, Pluto, and more in their special costumes. You may even encounter a few dressed as the Sanderson Sisters from Hocus Pocus!
Halloween activities include trick-or-treating, creepy crafts, spooky parties, elaborate décor, and limited-time food and beverage items. Adult-exclusive venues may feature “villainous takeovers”, and all guests can enjoy Halloween-themed movies on Funnel Vision, and more!
Thanksgiving at Sea
In November, the Disney Magic, Disney Wish, Disney Dream, and Disney Fantasy ships will host Thanksgiving at Sea!
Thanksgiving aboard these ships includes a full-course traditional turkey dinner, seasonal décor throughout the ship, live football broadcasts via satellite, and all the holiday magic offered on the Very Merrytime Cruises.
Very Merrytime Cruises
Speaking of the Very Merrytime Cruises, these seasonal sailings are available on the Disney Dream, Disney Wish, Disney Fantasy, Disney Magic, Disney Treasure, and Disney Destiny ships for most itineraries in November and December.
Each ship is decked out with festive theming, including three-deck-tall Christmas trees (which glisten following the Tree Lightning Ceremony) and fragrant, large Gingerbread Houses.
Some other varying offers include character and Santa encounters, Mickey and Minnie’s Holiday Party, themed activities and crafts for kids, holiday merchandise, and more!
The holiday fun also extends to Disney’s private island — Castaway Cay!
New Year’s Eve
Celebrated on most Disney ships, New Year’s Eve is extra special and definitely a night you won’t forget out at sea!
New Year’s on these ships includes a special dinner menu and a New Year’s Eve fireworks display at midnight!
