The Internet Sleuths Were Right! Taylor Swift Confirms NEW SONG For 'Toy Story 5'

The internet sleuths (that’s us!) are at it again, and they were right again! It has been rumored for MONTHS that Taylor Swift would have some involvement in a highly anticipated Pixar film.

As we get closer and closer to the release of Toy Story 5, Pixar has been teasing a big announcement that the internet believed was the Taylor Swift confirmation. Now, we can all take off our tinfoil hats because Pixar has FINALLY answered our big question.

Yes! Swifties rejoice! Pixar has finally confirmed that Taylor will have an original song in Toy Story 5! The new song will be titled “I Knew It, I Knew You,” and we can already feel our hearts breaking. Knowing Taylor, this one will tug at the heartstrings! She confirmed the song will debut on June 5th ahead of the movie’s debut.

Over on Swift’s website, you can get limited-time Collector’s Edition CDs featuring art from the film. These will be available until June 3rd, at 1:50 PM ET or until supplies last. On Instagram, Taylor wrote, “I’ve always dreamed of getting to write for these characters who I’ve adored since I was a 5 year old kid watching the first Toy Story movie. I fell instantly in love with Toy Story 5 when I was lucky enough to see it in its early stages, and I wrote this song as soon as I got home from the screening. Sometimes you just know, right?” Taylor, what do you know that we don’t?!

It has long been speculated that Swift would have some involvement with the project because a countdown appeared on the Taylor Swift website on May 1st with a background that looked like the Toy Story clouds. The countdown led to May 2nd, but it was quickly removed. We were following this like Sherlock Holmes as certified Swiftie fans!

After that, on May 30th, Pixar reignited the conversation online by posting a video of Jessie dancing in front of a billboard with “TS” on it. The caption wrote, “She’s making those moves up as she goes!” which is a line from Swift’s hit “Shake it Off.”

If you’re a big Taylor Swift fan, you know that Easter Eggs are just part of her branding! She loves to drop hints well ahead of new songs, releases, and more, so this wasn’t a huge surprise that she would do it for her Toy Story involvement. Toy Story 5 follows Woody, Buzz, and the rest of the gang as they face a new struggle — technology! Greta Lee and Conan O’Brien have joined the cast to serve as the new technological advancements the toys will have to face.
