We’ve got some big news in Disney’s live-action film world! If you’ve been waiting for more Tangled news, don’t worry, there’s a new update waiting for you!

Previously, we’ve known about Kathryn Hahn joining the cast as Mother Gothel, Teagan Croft coming on board as Rapunzel herself, and Milo Manheim being cast to play Flynn Rider, but now there’s a NEW cast member that’s been announced. What role will he be playing? Well, none of us really know!
The Hollywood Reporter has reported that Diego Luna, most known in the Disney world as starring as the titular character in the Star Wars series Andor which earned him Emmy, Golden Globe, and Critics Choice Awards nominations, will be joining the cast of the live-action Tangled. His character, however, is a role that was specifically created for the feature film, meaning that none of us will be familiar with the character from the original animated film.

Tangled will begin filming in Spain this June, which is just a few short weeks away. Michael Gracey will be directing the feature, which will have large musical numbers just like the original, but it’s unclear if Luna’s character will be expected to sing and dance. Kristin Burr via her company, Burr! Productions, Jennifer Kaytin Robinson and Michael Montemayor are the screenwriters, and Jessica Virtue is the executive VP of production who is overseeing the project for Disney Live Action.

When you teased an Andor actor was hoping for him. Love Diego Luna so now more interested in live action Tangled! But wish Disney would stop turning their cartoons live. Much more interested in new movies from Touchstone and definitely in a National Treasure 3 …about page 47!….but only if all of the main cast come back including Jon Voigt and Helen Mirren, Bruce Greenwood and Harvey Keitel, Diane and Nic Cage and the redhead at the end of 2 as a love interest for Riley. Also want a Jungle Cruise 2 but only with Dwayne and Emily plus Jack Whitehall…who really made the movie and deserved top billing along with them. Also want Trader Sam back. She was great!
