We hope you’re not tired of Disney’s live-action remakes of animated movies. We know that there are a lot of complaints about the live-action movies, and they’ve sometimes been big flops (Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, we’re looking at you), but sometimes Disney gets it JUST right (I will argue that the live-action Cinderella is even better than the animated film).
So we’ve been cautiously optimistic about a live-action Tangled movie, especially now that we know who has been cast as Rapunzel and Flynn Rider. However, maybe one of the most IMPORTANT roles in the movie may just be the villain, Mother Gothel. Well, the Internet KNEW who it wanted for the role, and it seems that the Internet just got its way: Kathryn Hahn is now confirmed as the live-action Tangled film’s villain!
In January, Variety reported that Hahn was in talks to play Mother Gothel in the live-action Tangled movie, but the news was never officially confirmed that Hahn had accepted the role. Even before that, though, Disney fans have been talking about their top picks for the villain, and Hahn’s name came up…a lot after her turn as Agatha Harkness in WandaVision and Agatha All Along (where she proved she could both act AND sing).
Well, Hahn herself recently took to Walt Disney Studio official social media accounts to lay all the rumors to rest. She confirmed that she would be taking on the role of Mother Gothel in the live-action Tangled. Hahn teases the announcement by wearing her OOTD (Outfit of the Day), which is jeans and a Mother Gothel t-shirt. Take a look at the video here:
The official Disney account responded to the video with the comment, “We are all tangled up in excitement!” while D23 commented, “Mother has arrived.” Even the Disney on Broadway Instagram account commented, writing, “Mother knows best.” Hahn joins Teagan Croft, who will play Rapunzel, and Milo Manheim, who will portray Flynn Rider.
